Registered School Guardians

As of July 1, 2025, Florida law requires every K–12 school campus—public, charter, and private—to have armed campus protection during school hours. Schools may meet this requirement through a certified School Guardian, a School Security Guard, or sworn law-enforcement presence, in accordance with the state’s School Guardian Program. Private schools may satisfy this mandate by utilizing properly trained and certified private security personnel who meet Florida’s guardian and firearms qualification standards. All guardians and security officers must complete state-approved training, background screening, and ongoing qualification requirements.
